Just a story of Emika's past, I wanted to play it out. I can guarantee I won't finish it in one sitting though... short attention span.. hee he. But anyways... without further ado *pulls at the curtains* P.S may be a bit repetitive from her history... just added to ^^
.................................
It was a day like any other dark, dreary and cold. Emika was helping out her mother as they did the final run grabbing the laundry off the lines outside. The fierce wind was picking up bit by bit, the sheets and towels flung themselves violently at the two as they struggled to unclasp them and force them into the basket that lay between the two.
They were having a tough time trying to do that as worry lines creased on her mother's for head. She glanced up at the foreboding darkened sky, "Hurry up Emi dear, I think this one's going to be worse than most." She said in a soft but worried voice. Emi looked up at her mother, only being six at the time and could only nod. I hope she's wrong, but it doesn't look good. She thought as it took all she had to hold down the sheets as they battered against her, wrestling with them to stay on her feet as her mother unclasped them from the top and they both held close to it as they forced them into the basket.
Just when they were taking down the last of the sheets Emika's father was pulled into the drive. They heard the distant open and slam of a truck door as he struggled with it. Very upset to see the two still outside as he rushed up to help them. He grabbed Emi's hand quite forcefully in his own and scooped up the basket in his other arm. Her mother held tight to his arm as he pulled the two to the safety of the house.
Her father closed the door with a bit of extra help from his wife and heaved a sigh of relief. "Just what do you two think you are doing out there?" He said in a stern but concerned voice. Emika looked up to her father and tugged at the side of his shirt, "We were worried daddy, we didn't wanna lose the bed sheets." She said in her small voice. She knew he was weak against her, she had been his angel and baby girl and loved her and her mother very much. Her father couldn't be mad at his little angel as he scooped her up and kissed her cheek. Thought so "I understand Emi, but you must know that was very dangerous. I don't want to see you doing any such thing again understand?" Emi frowned but nodded at her father. I wasn't sure whether or not to follow mommy, but I had to help her. No matter how much I hate these storms. "Good." He set her back down just as a crack of thunder boomed from overhead. Not again! She thought as she latched onto her father's leg in a shivering mass.
Emika had been deathly afraid of thunderstorms all her life. They had lived in a smallish type of valley that screamed thunderstorms. All of the rain was good for the gardening to an extent... whereas the storms always came on very strong, scaring the children and animals that resided there. Her family did the best they could, but it was the only place they could afford, not having enough to be able to move out and find someplace new to subside. Emika wished to find a new place when she was older with her parents, but right now that was only a dream. Even her mother seemed to quake with fear, but she knew she had to be strong for her daughter so she calmed herself best she could.
Emika's father looked over the two as the rain started to pour down, cascading over the roof, leaking in here and there from the patched holes in the roof. He looked to the leaking roof and frowned, "Dear, I think we need to get to safer grounds." He said in a gruff voice, having a gut feeling that the roof may not last for much longer under the heaving rains from Mother Nature and her wrath. She nodded as she held close to Emika who had now fallen to the floor. She held her knees pulled into her chest, with her head between them to block out the noise. She was rocking slightly trying everything she could to escape the noise and thunder that boomed from outside seeming to her that she was standing in the way of it and whatever happened to anger it this time. She had always believed these storms were cast down by Mother Nature's own two hands, something must have both angered and saddened her with such a storm. Though Emika wondered if Mother Nature even existed and if she did why she would do such a thing to the land that she protected. She had only heard of the stories her parents had told her, but was still unsure of what she believed to be real and fake.
Her mother looked back to her husband with a nod as she knew what he had to do before she picked up Emika in her arms and clung to her as if for dear life. Her husband ushered the two to the back entrance of the house. Just make it out alive Her mother thought as she heard yet another crack of lightning. She shivered but held strong, knowing her daughter's life depended on her. She needed to close the distance between the house and the underground safe house in mear seconds to assure they would be safe. A flash of lightning lit up the small house and Emika whimpered. Go away storm. Please Mother Nature... She continued to run through her mind as if hoping Mother Nature would hear her and calm down herself after seeing what was happening. She held her small hands over her ears trying desperately to block out the noise of the storm but was still unsuccessful. The crash of thunder sounded and seconds later they were out the door. Her mother in a full out run, and her father just behind the two. He pushed them along, being sure not to trip his wife as he ran behind. They held their heads low to block out the sideways sheet of rain that poured down, hammering into their skin. Piercing them like tiny needles without an end.
Upon reaching the safe house forced the two in and locked it behind them. Standing in the sheets of rain as it poured down on him. Already soaked to the bone as he turned on his heals and ran back to the house to obtain his gear for what came next. He knew he wouldn't make it back to the safety of his wife and daughter's arms but he had to help the rest of the small valley protect the weak and young from any worse happenings. He was on a mission, shall he be knocked down, well at least he would have served his purpose. Be strong love. He thought for his wife as he reentered the house and started to gather everything, slinging things over his shoulders as he slid into his boots, and slacks. Everything was ready to help, the only problem was that of movement. It was difficult to get around with so much covering him, but he hadn't the time to worry about that now, he had to go.
Meanwhile Emika and her mother were huddled in the dark safe house. The only sound that was heard was the pitter patter of rain and the muffled sounds of the clapping thunder from above their heads.
~ Finish up a bit later ~
Her parents died in a sever thunderstorm, her father had ushered her and her mother into the underground safe house. This seemed to be just another passing storm to Emika for she was very young at the time. She held close to her mother shivering as tears fell down her cheeks. She hated these storms, every time they always brought her to tears as the thunder boomed from overhead, and lightning struck the ground countless times. Her father was still absent and she could hear her mother growing concerned. A few seconds later a huge crack could be heard, shaking the entire ground. Stored cans and jars rattled from their shelves and collapsed all around the two. She heard her mother scream out as a jar smashed over her head, knocking her out. Though it was tough to hear anything over the storm, Emika was afraid to move, for fear itself held her in a bind. Frozen in her spot as she held her hands over her ears as tight as could be, still shaking under her mother's lifeless body. She could only cry and hold herself to try and stop the countless shaking but nothing helped. She heard scratching from the door, followed by a loud thump as if something was thrown against it. Making her cry out once more.
A few hours later she found everything had calmed down enough to be able to move. She slipped from her mothers body and screamed out once more. Not only had she been hit over the head, but shattered glass covered her body and the floor. Not the worst of it, tears streamed down her cheeks more so as she layed her mother on her stomach, dead as dead can be. A glass shard had lodged itself through her back and straight through to her heart. The impact must have killed her instantly, Emika took in a shaky breath as she looked away, only curious to know what had gone on outside. She could hear the light pitter patter of rain outside as she unlocked and latched the door and swung it open with a bit of force. Something was wrong, it shouldn't have been that hard. She gasped as she heard another thump as the door stopped from swinging open. Off to the side was her father. His clothes were singed and he didn't look good at all. She rushed over to him, but even still, it was far too late. She turned away, her clothes now covered in darkness as if she had been in a fire herself and kneeled on the soddened ground, a sobbing mass now. Scared and feeling quite alone.
