Chapter 1
My name is Alexander but everyone calls me Prince Alex. I have blonde hair that is past my chin and my eyes are blue. My adventure began when someone came in my room while I was sleeping and covered my nose and mouth. My eyes quickly opened and I saw my brother looking down at me and having his hand across my face. His eyes and hair looked darker than normal. I figured that he would let go of my face once I woke up but he didn’t. Instead of letting go, he pushed his hand down harder.
My brother is one year younger than me, since I’m seventeen that would make him sixteen. His name is Benjamin. Same as me, he has a nickname, Ben. He isn’t called Prince Benjamin or Prince Ben. No, since I’m older, I get the title of Prince. His light brown hair is down to his ears and his eyes are a grayish blue color. I know my brother is jealous of me but I never knew how much until that night.
Before everything went all black, I opened my mouth and bit his hand. I suddenly felt a gush of a warm liquid flow into my mouth. While he pulled his hand back and tried to stop the bleeding, I got out of bed and ran to the door. I threw the door open and I couldn’t believe what I saw, the guards that were supposed to be protecting me, were aiming bows and guns to me. I let out a sigh and turned around. I was planning on jumping out the window and getting on my horse to get out of there but my brother was holding a sword to my throat.
“Hello there brother of mine”, he snickered, having a huge grin across his face.
I shook my head and asked why he was doing this. His reply was simple; he pulled his sword across the right side of my neck slowly. There was a line that the sword had created on my neck that was dripping with blood. I choked out a few words that no one could understand.
“Speak up Alex!” he snapped. I couldn’t believe my own ears. My little brother was talking back to me!
“Why? You were such a great brother. Why do this to me?” I babied, trying to tell him that he was doing the wrong thing.
“Stop the gilt trip Alex!” he began, “Why? You ask: Why? Well, because you would always get the attention and all the girls would drool over you!”
“Really!?” I asked, trying to lighten the mood as well as get his mind off the idea of killing me. He glared at me and rested his sword on my head. I didn’t dare to move because of the sharpness of the blade.
“Stop messing with me Alexander!” he growled, “Now, leave my land or die!” I was scared, confused, and worried and the same time.
“Wait… your land? This land belongs to father and mother!” I felt like screaming. He laughed at my comment and he wiped his eyes with the hand he wasn’t using with the sword.
“Oh yes, I took care of both of them!” He laughed insanely. I became frozen then he repeated himself, “Leave or die.” I was planning on leaving in the first place but he used his sword to block me. How was I supposed to leave when the guards were blocking the door and he was laying the sword on the top my head?
“Well… I was planning on it but you kinda have me at a draw right now” I tried to say without stuttering. After I said that, he lifted the sword and walked behind me. He took the sword and poked me in the back which made me jump in the direction of the window. The jab in my back made hole in my skin which made it start to bleed.
“What a wonderful night” I choked, walking to the window. I opened it then looked back at him. “What are you going to tell everyone?” I asked.
“I’ve thought of everything already. For mom and dad, I’ll say that they died from a murderer while they slept. As for you, you ran off because you heard there was a murderer in the castle and you ran off like a chicken!” he snickered. I looked back out the window and took a horse whistle off the dresser and blew into it. It was a call that only my horse could here. My horse, Gallion, ran to the bottom of the window. I turned back to my brother and put my hand to my forehead and quickly pulled it away, saluting him.
“Well, don’t make me look bad!” I laughed quietly, knowing that he would anyway, “Good like with your kingly life” I laughed while jumping out of the window and landing on my horse. Gal ran off so fast that I had to hold on for dear life. When we were finally far enough away, my horse slowed down so I could take the whistle and put the rope that it was connected to, around my neck. We walked and walked until sunrise. I knew that people would be looking for me and if someone found me and brought me back to my castle, my brother would kill me. So I had to find away to hide myself, and to stop the bleeding from my neck and back before it got infected, or worse, lose of blood.
Chapter 2
I must’ve fallen asleep on Gallion because when I woke up, I was still on her. When I woke up, my whole body was in pain. I looked down at Gal’s brown skin and tan mane and I noticed her whole back wasn’t that color anymore, it was reddish. I started to wonder if Gal was bleeding but I looked down at my shirt and it was covered in blood. I didn’t notice how badly my brother had stabbed me in my back until now.
Gal and I were in a meadow so I saw many waterways. I pulled Gal over to one and jumped off of her. I slipped off her saddle then grabbed her reins and walked her slowly into the water. When both of us were in the water, I took of my shirt to clean my cut and I cleaned off Gallion’s back. I didn’t know how to make my shirt its normal white color so I decided to keep it red, no one would see me and if someone did, they wouldn’t know that it was originally white. Once my bleeding stopped, I realized that I would have to stop at a town to get new clothes; I couldn’t wear these clothes forever. Suddenly my head was in pain so I grabbed it, hoping it would stop. A few minutes after it started, it stopped, thank goodness for that! I grabbed Gal’s reins again and pulled her out of the water. I put her saddle back on then I put my shirt on, I didn’t want my scars to fell the heat of the sun and start bleeding again.
Once we were out of the meadow, the heat really started to get to me. All my life living here, I’d never noticed that past the meadow was a desert. I wanted to get out of the heat so badly that I made my horse run faster than she had ever done before, bad idea; she fell over and flipped onto me. The weight and the heat was unbearable, I felt like I was going to die right there. My horse got off of me but I couldn’t move, I should have brought water with me. I lay there, unable to move, my body felt like it was shattered. I remember someone walked toward me, I couldn’t tell if it was a girl or boy because the person had a hood over its head. As soon as it stood next to me and its eyes looked down at me, my body gave up trying to stay awake and I fell into a deep sleep.
I remember waking up in a bed with a fan next to me, a cold glass of water next to the bed and a cold cloth across my head. My eyes were slightly open as I looked around the room. I tried to move but I couldn’t, everything hurt more than before. The person who walked up to me in the desert, walked threw the door and next to my bed. The person grabbed the hood and pulled it back, it was a girl… a girl saved me! She had messy red hair that hung down past her shoulders and brown eyes. She smiled and spoke in a weird language. My voice was scratchy but I managed to tell her that I didn’t understand. She grinned and bowed.
“Welcome man past the meadows” she welcomed. I didn’t understand what she was talking about.
“Um… man past the meadows? Sure, um, have you seen my horse?” I asked. I started to get my energy back so I sat up slowly and the covers fell off my torso. What I saw made me shocked then angry. “WHAT THE, WHY AM I NOOD!?” I yelled, covering myself back up.
“The man past the meadows is known to show it off”, she giggled. I didn’t find it funny at all.
“Where are my clothes!?” I growled.
“What do you mean clothes? The things that were upon you? They are called robes and they are right here”, she held up my clothes and had a huge smile on her face. I reached out my hands and grabbed my clothes.
“Could you leave, I like to change in private”, I asked.
“Private, the man past the mead-” she started.
“Ya, ya, ya, man past the meadows, JUST LEAVE!” I yelled. She nodded and left. I wondered what kind of person she was, not a normal one that is. I got out of bed and put my clothes on then turned to face the window. “If she doesn’t see me leave then I’ll be safe” I told myself. I opened the window and was about to jump out when an alarm went off. I quickly shut the window and faced the doorway. The girl walked back in with a frown.
“You were going to leave?” she pouted. I rolled my eyes and looked at a pole that was near the window. What was that for? When I looked back at her, she had a huge grin across her face then she walked towards me. I gulped and grabbed the metal pole quickly.
“Don’t come any closer or I’ll… I’ll hit you!” I hollered, not wanting to sound like I was evil. She continued to walk closer and started to lift her hands up as if to try and hug me. I was scared so I hit her- hard. She fell over, blood spilling onto the wooden floor. I gulped again and dropped the pole. I opened the window, jumped out and quickly blew my whistle. When my horse came by, I quickly jumped on her and rode off. As I rode across the desert, I noticed there was a town and all the towns people were shooting arrows at me. Luckily I got past the town without any extreme cuts.
I had to get farther away from this area. I was a lost prince at home and now a murderer here. I had to keep going, still without anything to drink or eat, and now my biggest problem, money.
Chapter 3
I was looking up in the sky daydreaming and Gal was walking slowly forward. I didn’t notice that we were walking toward a small city because I was so out of it. I quickly came back to reality when I heard a growling noise. I jumped and looked around, not seeing anything or anyone around. What was that? I heard it again and noticed it was coming from bellow me. I glanced down and heard it again, my stomach was screaming for food. I laughed weakly at myself. I patted my stomach and looked forward, seeing the city.
“Hallelujah! I can get some food for both of you.” I laughed, patted Gal on the side of her neck. Gal neigh happily in response and I looked up at the closer city.
“Here we go…” I mumbled, lashing the reins so Gal walked faster toward the city. As we got closer, my stomach stopped and Gal stopped as well. The place looked abandoned and if anyone lived here, they were surly poor. I got off of Gal and looked around; no one here, no one there. I kicked a rock in frustration and walked back toward Gal when I heard a cry. I stopped and walked to where the rock was kicked to. I picked up the rock and examined it. I heard the cry from behind the shed that the rock hit. I walked to the back of the shed, still holding the rock.
A young girl, maybe 8, was sitting alone, hugging her knees and crying. I took a step toward her and she looked up at me. Her lime green eyes looked right at me when she parted her black hair away. I stopped when her cat like eyes looked into mine. She got up and walked to me. She held out her hand and when I didn’t move, her grabbed my hand and took the rock.
“What? It’s a rock, not food or anything.” I explained in a confused voice myself. She looked up at me, her shimmering green eyes now filled with anger. I knew why she was mad, she thought I was her rescue and had brought her food. She clutched the rock tightly and threw it at me. I saw it coming so I was out of there just in time. She picked up the rock and ran after me. I jumped on Gal and noticed that as soon as I got on her, she ran. She must have seen me running and knew that we needed to get out of there. I looked back over my shoulder and saw her standing there at the edge of the city; it was getting farther and farther away. She threw the rock and it hit me hard on the head. She had good aim but not enough strength to knock me out, or enough speed to catch up with us.
I saw another city right after and figured that there was the old town and the new town. This must be the new town and that whacked kid must have been living in the old town. My town did something like this. We didn’t move to whole new town, we just added on. I slowed Gal down and walked slowly into the town. People stopped what they were doing to look up at me. I didn’t wave or smile, I kept my eyes ahead so I couldn’t see their expressions. I came to a large gate and looked up and down the large gate to see if it had a sign. I didn’t have to go far before I saw a sign that said:
PRINCE ALLA’S CASTLE – GUARDED SO DON’T TRY TO GET IN!
I smiled and jumped off of Gal, maybe this “Prince Alla” could help me. I walked toward where the sign was and right next to the sign was a locked gate door. It was fancy and had a circular top that was higher than the rest of the gate.
“Why does this prince have his castle block-” I couldn’t finish my question because I heard something behind me. I turned and saw a large car, it was black and it had a 3D metal picture on the front, it looked like a dog. I’ve seen a car once and a while but this looked different. I moved away from the gate door and watched as the car pulled up and two men got out of the car, one from the driver’s seat and one from the passenger seat. The diver walked up to the gate and unlocked it. The other man was walking toward me with a gun in his hand. When the gate unlocked, the driver spoke.
“I’m going to drive the prince inside, you take care of the intruder” he ordered the man holding the gun. He got in the car and started driving through the opened gate when the back door swung open. By now, the gun was pointed to my head. I didn’t run because that would make me look like I did something to the castle that I didn’t want them to catch me for. The driver stopped and got out of the car again, this time, he walked to the back door and helped a boy out. The boy looked about 13, maybe twelve. He got out with help from the driver then mumbled something that I couldn’t hear. The driver closed the back door and got back in the car and drove past the gate, toward the castle. The man with the gun cocked his gun, ready to shoot. I was sweating and started at the young boy.
“Sir!” he exclaimed to the young boy. His face was pale and his high pitched voice was ugly compared to the way he acted. He had no hair and I couldn’t tell his eye color because of the dark glasses he was wearing. The driver was the same way, bald and glasses. The young boy had longer hair than me, it went down to his elbows and he had black eyes.
“My name is Alla, you?” he asked in a normal kid voice.
“Bob... you know-” he started but Alla interrupted him.
“NOT YOU!” he growled, his eyes squinted to show he was angry.
“I’m Alexander… Prince Alex” I told, my voice cracked at prince.
“Don’t mind Bob, come with me” he welcomed with a grin.
Chapter 4
I got in his castle safely, if you call having a gun pointed to your back the whole time safe. Alla walked into a large kitchen and told me to sit on the other side of the round table. I sat and the gun was now pointed to my head. I saw a large steak go to Alla then one to me. I looked down at the food then back up at Alla who was cutting his meat.
“Listen, I don’t want any trouble I-” I had to stop there because of the look Alla gave me.
“Eat, you look hungry” he told, pointing his fork toward my food. He stabbed a piece of steak with his fork and put it in his mouth. I watched him carefully then shook my head. I grabbed the correct sized fork and the knife, and I cut it and ate a few pieces. I grabbed the napkin that was in my lap and wiped my face before continuing.
“Ok, I ate. Listen, I’m the prince of-” I started once again. Alla was laughing at me now. I glared and him and clenched my fists.
“Ok, ok! So you think you’re a prince!? OF MY LAND!” he cracked up laughing again.
“I never said your land!” I snarled, not trying to get to mad because the gun was still pointed to my head.
“Ok then, I’m listening” he giggled as he lay back in the kitchen chair. He rocked back and forth on the back legs and grinned.
“I was run out of my land by my little brother. I’m the heir to the throne but he wants to be so I need your help. I would like some sort of weapon, a sword or a gun. Some food for the road and maybe some fresh clothes” I told and noticed his partly confused face.
“So, you think I would hand over my stuff to another gang banger? No thank you, you are dismissed” he told, waving his hand. Bob, the man with the gun, grabbed my hair and pulled me up. He tossed me toward the door and put the gun to me.
“Ok, ok… I’m going” I mumbled, getting up but getting pushed again because I didn’t move fast enough. I got up once again and this time didn’t move. I turn to the guard and punched him in the face and grabbed the gun quickly. Other guards came running and I held the gun up to one guard then quickly to another.
“All I want is what I ask for, please” I urged, gulping deeply. The prince walked up to me and I pointed the gun to him. He handed me a backpack and told the guards to leave. I got down on my knees and continued holding the gun to him as I opened the bag. I saw a hoodie, a sweatshirt, a T-shirt, jeans, shorts, some socks, and a belt. I checked the size of the shirts and they were one size bigger, the pants were my size and the socks were one size bigger. I figured they were his dad’s or if he had an older brother, his older brother’s. I kept looking and saw a pocket knife, ammunition for the gun I held. I saw some containers of food and some food wrapped in handkerchiefs. I zipped up the bag and got up. I patted him on the head but kept the gun to him.
“You got a bathroom?” I asked in a tired voice. The boy turned and walked me to a large bathroom like mine. I walked into one of the stalls and unzipped the bag. I pulled off my shirt and soon had the T-shirt on. I put my old shirt in the bag incase I needed to use it later. It smelled good and it felt cool and fresh. I put the belt around my waist and slipped the gun through it. I opened up the door and rolled my head to crack my neck. I walked to the exit of the bathroom and opened the door to see Alla standing there. He asked if I needed anything else and I ignored him. I walked toward the door that I came in from and stopped to turn toward him with a pissed off face.
“Where is it?” I snarled, pulling out the gun form my belt.
“Where’s what?”
“DON’T ACT STUPID! My horse call!”
“Oh, this!?” he asked, holding up the horse call necklace.
“Don’t be an idiot, give it back” I said so much calmer. He dropped it the put his foot on it.
“I think I should” he laughed. Without that, my horse could run off and I would me moving allot slower.
“What do you want?” I signed, putting the gun in my belt to show I wouldn’t shoot.
“I want a servant, one with spunk!” he snickered. I walked toward him and grinded my teeth.
“Fine, what do you want me to do?” I asked, now in front of him.
“I’ll be keeping the call until you do everything I want, correctly. Dance!” he laughed, picking up the horse call.
“Ok” I said, lifting up one foot the jumping on the other as if running in place. I then crossed one leg over the other then did the same with the other leg. I lifted my foot up once again then kicked him in the gut. He fell back and I grabbed the horse call that he had dropped.
“GUARDS!” he screamed.
“I’d better get out of here” I told myself, running to the door, swinging them open and running out of the gate. Gal was still there and I jumped on her.
“LET’S GO!” I hollered, kicking Gal on the side and she dashed into the woods.
Chapter 5
I was still running through the thick woods, getting cut by all the tree’s that we ran through. It had been ten minutes since we ran from the castle and so I slowed Gal down. I got of off of her and climbed up a tree and laid on a strong branch that was close to Gal’s height. I laid the bag on my stomach and unzipped it. I grabbed one of the handkerchiefs and untied it to see a bread stick. I ripped it in half and handed one half to Gal and I slowly ate the other piece.
“Listen girl, I’m tired. We should get some sleep” I said with a yawn at the end.
