This includes the rest of Gensing and Novgood's childhood + the first part of Different Directions Different Sides, but only up to Gensing's bit. Note: There is a lot of swearing in SOW from here on out, and it gets worse and more violent as it goes on. + people die in large quantities so don't read if you can't take the literary fire.

Part two
Humble beginnings
“Novgood” began his mother, after carting him back inside, leaving his brother to finish his food “I want you to stop-“
“Mom you know he’s the one who starts it not me”
“I don’t care who starts it, you’re older you should know better, Gensing is competitive and he never gives up until he’s completely out of it. It’s bad enough I have to send him to school with all those cuts, now his teachers are starting to think it’s me hitting him”
Novgood just stood there looking at the ground, he was much older and he knew what would happen if Gensing continued coming to school with cuts and bruises on him. It wouldn’t be that hard for an outsider to believe that his mother, as nice as she was, would beat one of her children with all that had happened to her…

Part three
Humble beginnings
Novgood was sitting on the couch idly watching Gensing play a first person shooter on the television, Gensing didn’t seem to even register him over the game and his mother was in another room speaking with their uncle.
Novgood longed for their conversation to end, though he had no idea what they were talking about. This was because this uncle was his favorite he always had something for them to do, and he seemed to never tire, not even when he was surrounded by two overly active teenagers.
One floor above Novgood’s mother was staging a whispered argument with his favorite uncle, Rife.
“I don’t want them involved with this, they’re still only kids, and besides their father wanted me to keep them out of this” said Novgood’s mother barely concealing her anger.
“Jase had lost half his blood when he told you that, and if he knew what had happened over the last year he would appreciate it if you at least informed them about who they are!” said the uncle no longer concealing his anger but still kept his tones to a whisper.
“Their still kids, Rife!” said the mother exasperatedly.
“Novgood’s sixteen for Christ’s sake!” replied Rife even more exasperated.
“You really think a fourteen year old and a sixteen year old can handle something of this magnitude, Rife you must be losing your mind!” said the mother barely whispering.
“How long do you expect them to last uninformed, your lucky I was there last month or they would’ve-“but Rife was cut off the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs.
Novgood entered, not realizing what he had just walked in on, but did suspect something was up when he saw his mother glaring at his uncle like that.
“uhh…Hey mom, do we have any milk” said Novgood puzzled at the situation.
“Yes it’s downstairs” said his mother, and as Novgood left she turned back to Rife, glaring…

Part four
Humble beginnings
They stood, the three of them, the only ones there, their mother crying. A closed coffin was laid in front of them, the coffin of Rife Lazurus. Gensing and Novgood stood, silent, staring at the spotless finish of the coffin; the extended family was now only a single family, alone.
Their mother left, leaving the two boys alone, Gensing spoke “why isn’t the coffin open, why can’t we see him?”
Novgood was silent for a long moment, his lip quivering, as if he was building up to say something. Novgood turned to Gensing, giving him a hard, cold look.
“You wana know why do you” said Novgood with silent rage in his voice “You really want to know why the casket isn’t open don’t you?”
“Well yes” replied Gensing quietly.
“Well I’ll tell you then, because some pathetic excuse of a man blew his bloody brains out, that’s why, just up and shot him from two miles away with his rifle, and they couldn’t manage to put his skull back together all nice. Because he was murdered Gensing, he was murdered by a coward who didn’t even have the courage to kill him face to f**king face. How does that make you feel Gensing, eh” Said Novgood his voice getting slowly louder until he was yelling, taking out his rage on his brother.
Gensing didn’t speak, he just looked down. There was nothing to say, nothing that would matter. Novgood left, leaving Gensing alone, alone with a body. This would become a familiar position with Gensing in the future…

Part five
Humble beginnings
It had been five days since the funeral of rife, and Novgood had pulled Gensing into a quiet room. Gensing looked with a fake puzzled expression into Novgood’s face, whom bought every ounce of his fake innocence. Novgood seemed to building himself up to say something.
Suddenly Novgood took a deep breath and began “Gensing, mother told me why Rife was murdered, but she told me not to tell you”.
“Let me guess you’re not going to listen to her are you” said Gensing throwing aside his innocent guise.
Novgood paused puzzled at Gensing’s sudden attitude change; it was almost as if he had just gotten more mature, wiser.
“Well that is obvious. Gensing, we are part of something that we haven’t known about for far too long” Said Novgood preparing for his monologue.
Gensing already knew what Novgood was going to explain to him, Rife had left a legacy with him, Rife had chosen him instead of Novgood to know everything. Gensing knew even more than his mother and Novgood put together.
“Gensing we are only one part of an even larger family, one of seven. Originally there was only one but somewhere during the reign of the Byzantine Empire, we split. Our family had been feuding for centuries, and when we split we entered a state of open warfare. Over the ages two of the seven sections of our family were wiped out, and the fight became solely over power. Gensing, Rife was murdered by one of those family members, I don’t know which one but I do know it was from our family. They’re going to come for us Gensing; we’re next on their list…”

Part six
Different directions, different sides
Gensing sat there watching several men shoot at distant targets; he was, of course, in a firing range. Next to him was a man, whom was smoking bent cigarette. Gensing had aged to the fine age of twenty, and had gotten himself into the bad side of society, organized crime, contract killers, and the works.
“You really shouldn’t smoke you know” said Gensing turning to the man next to him, with a gentle sigh of boredom.
“Yeah, maybe it’ll crystallize my lungs” Said the man in a gruff mocking voice.
“One f**k-up and you’ll never let me forget it will you” sad Gensing shaking his head.
“Yeah that’s the just of it” said the man.
Gensing shook his head and watched the men shooting the targets. Gensing lifted his arm and put his fist under his chin, supporting his head. It had been far more demanding to do his job then he had originally predicted it to be. That and his power had turned out to be extremely difficult to control, but Akada had made his job easier, always backing him up in the sticky places.
“So Gensing” began Akada “what’s that brother of yours up to, I mean after all we need to keep an eye on him and all”
“Well he suspects something’s wrong with how I’m acting lately” said Gensing mockingly, he had developed a strong hate for his ‘nosy-ass’ brother these days.
Gensing and Akada’s conversation was interrupted when someone came dashing out of the door way that led to the firing range. Both Akada and Gensing focused on him, noticing that the man had one of Gensing’s eighteen cell phones in his hand. Gensing always made his men answer them, mainly because he had told everyone that he was running a business and was very busy, and partially out of apathy.
“Sir” said the man between gasps of breaths; obviously he had been running around the complex trying to find him “Important call for you”.
The man handed Gensing the cell phone, Gensing took it and said “Gensing here”
“Sir we’re very sorry” began the man.
“I’m sure you are now telling me what you’re sorry about” said Gensing in an even yet impatient tone-of-voice.
The man stuttered for a second before talking, Gensing had a way of intimidating people without trying “S-sir, your mother has been found, dead, Sir. As I said we’re very so-” the man was cut off, as Gensing had closed the phone.
