Segments of a war
Part one
Humble beginnings
Novgood raised his fists one more time as Gensing stood, panting. His eye was bleeding coating the area below it with blood, something mother wouldn’t be too pleased about. However, it was Gensing’s fault after all he had initiated the fight.
Gensing panted holding his hands on his knees, but he wasn’t about to give. Something inside of him wanted to be better, wanted to win. Gensing straightened up, wiping the blood from his cheek.
“C’mon little bro just give up, you can’t hope to beat me at fighting” Novgood said boastfully.
“You just wait...” replied Gensing still panting.
Gensing lunged forward, putting all his weight in one punch; Novgood stepped to the side, cuffing Gensing in the neck as he fell. Gensing lay on the ground, Novgood standing over him like a master over his dog. Gensing moved his arms propping himself up to a crawling position.
“Alright you got me on that one, but how about this!” said Gensing with enthusiasm as he shifted to his knees, swinging his leg out in a wild motion, and tried to catch Novgood’s ankles with the blow.
It failed, Novgood stepped back and avoided the blow, and then as Gensing tried to rise again Novgood merely grabbed him and flipped him over his shoulder. Gensing fell, grunting as he hit the ground. Once again Gensing stirred, he was about to rise again, but he was stopped by the sound of his mothers voice.
“I told you two no fighting! How many times must I remind you that it makes me worry, not to mention it does you two no good either!” said their mother scornfully rapping Novgood on his head sharply.
“Ouch mom, I kinda need my brain cells ya know” said Novgood rubbing the spot where she had hit him.
“Well maybe you should think about that next time you beat on your little brother” she said as she helped Gensing to his feet “oh just great, he bleeding. Do you two know how hard I work just to feed you two now that your fathers gone, why should I have to spend such a fortune on bandages!”…
