Rellik leaned his head back against the stone of the wall he was sitting against, it's cold moisture coating his neck and keeping him awake. He shuddered weakly, body willing him to pull away from the freezing stone. He didn't, he had to stay awake, he really didn't want to know what would happen if he fell asleep.
Might not wake up again. And what a shame it would be to die now, and here of all places. He knew he had to move, had to get somewhere with food, or something to turn into food. He was slowly eating himself away, he had gone for weeks, possibly months without food. Being alone, he had discovered, usually led to tricky situations. Weather they be the pressures of being outnumbered by your many enemies or be they the loneliness that haunted you on your longer journeys.
Or in this case no one to help find food. It also didn't help much that he couldn't go anywhere fast, not without wings. He turned his head so that his cheek rested on the stone. He could see a dim light at the mouth of the cave, a sunrise would shortly be visible. Ughh, I hate my life...
Rellik fell asleep...

Anarante watched him, she didn't want to make a movement. If he happen to be the one that killed her friend, then she would wait for the right time to kill him. He looked weak, easy to take down. She stayed in the shadows, but if the sun raised and hit her face or hair, then most would see her. She tried to make sure she was covered well. Then he fell asleep, "This is to easy..." She whispered to herself. She took a arrow out and got ready for the shot. If she was going to have any chance of killing him, it would be now. She pulled it back, getting ready for the shot...
She lowered her bow and arrow, watching him. He looked... Lonely or rather away from anything but himself. She may be young, but she had learned how to read the faces of her enemies when she was training. 'Why do I keep stalling. He is a born killer... I should make one less of him...' But she couldn't. Something about him made her want to just leave him be. She tried again, raising her bow and aiming for the kill shot...

Rellik was having an odd dream, he was encompassed in complete and impenetrable darkness, save for one light, in some undefinable distance inf front of him. Rellik watched the light for a little bit, it didn't seem evil or hostile. He felt as if he should go to it. The suddenly the light vanished, and it was replaced by the complete darkness again.
Rellik's eyes flew open. He instinctively dodged to the side, he almost immediately spotted the female face illuminated by the sun, a bow in her hands. Rellik reached inside his robe, the first thing his hand landed on was the stock of his large handgun, but a second of memory told him that it was empty.
Rellik's hands lighted the handle of one of his five throwing knifes , and in one swift motion he spun to face the girl, throwing it. A combination of starvation fatigue and the sun in his eyes contributed to his miss.
Rellik threw himself behind a tree, he was panting heavily, he couldn't move so fast in starvation mode, else he would have charged her right there and taken her in close quarters. But he was already out of breath from just that short run. He drew his sword, better to wait her out.

Anarante dodged the knife, but then went up the tree he was behind and cornered him. He was weak and was going to be an easy kill. "You should have perpared yourself for more... It's not easy killing one of my kind." She said, aiming an arrow at his head, pulled back, ready for any sudden movements. She wasn't about to let this one go, not even if he begged for his life on his hands and knees.
He looked weak, like he hadn't eaten anything in weeks. He looked like he was starving. How could she fight someone that won't even have the strength to fight back. "This is worthless... You're worthless." She said, jumping down and taking her sword out, then putting it to his neck. "I'll make it painless and fast." She said, anger in her voice. She had anger in her eyes, she had hate in her eyes, and sadness in her eyes.
Anarante wasn't one to be anger. If she had a problem with someone, then she went to that person and talked it through with them. Only, this was a different kind of problem, she was searching for the killer of her friend and a family member. Why was she turning into a killer herself? She wasn't born a killer, she was born a warrior. Warriors weren't born to kill out of anger, she had to stop herself.

Rellik's logical side told him to let himself be killed, that he would dimply leave this life of crippled misery and be reincarnated, a new, full demon. However some deep primal urge willed otherwise, forcing him through movements learned as a child and in his time as a renegade.
"Perhaps I am worthless" he said in a feint voice, hoarse from lack of use, whom had he to talk to? "But if anything I am a hole in which to throw your life, so I will take your heathen soul and perhaps add some worth to it"
It really was an amazing statement considering instinct was governing his actions at the moment, a sort of primal poem.
"If you think I'll die so easily after all the fire I have seen, then you are mistaken" He swatted her lighter, and probably chap sword aside, and ducked low.
He raised the blade and came up for a lower attack, this, he knew would fail, no true warrior would submit his life to be taken by a lunge. However it would serve to force her to move backwards, and then from his low position he could trip her or cut her legs out from under her. Perhaps Rellik was not at his peak right now, but he had taken far more formidable foes in his homeland...

Anarente didn't say much, she didn't want to speak to him. He moved slow because he was weak, but she didn't let her guard down for long. He soon moved and was going for a lower attack. She had so much practice that she didn't have to think twice on what move she was going to make next. She jumped up in the tree and then a bit higher.
"I'm sure you can't reach me here. Since a demon with no wings and is as weak as you are." She said, looking down at him. She went a bit low on that, but it was called for.
All of her movements were gracious(sp?). She moved like an elf warrior at times, but most of the time she moved like a princess. "Why not just let me take your pain away and we can be done with this. You are to weak to fight me." She said, the anger gone from her voice and eyes. She was just wanting to get it over and down with before someone caught site of her and told another. The elves didn't like to be spotted by humans, it was like seeing something out of a fearie tale.

Rellik's plan failed. She had gone above his range, and was mocking him of all things And what would you know of weakness, you've never seen strength. d**nit, if I wasn't so d**n weak...
Rellik looked up at her, and flipped the blade in his hand, holding it parallel with his body and reached inside his coat. I'm going to have to bluff on this one, there's nothing in this gun right now. If there was she'd be dead by now...
"Your choice girl!" he said with an attempt at a condensending tone, it failed with his weak voice "I will make nothing of eating your body and sending your head to your family! Leave now or die!"

She grinned, she wasn't going to just give up so easily, and if he thought he could that going to her family and giving then her head he would be very sorry. "I'm a princess and a warrior! I have never backed down from a fight, what makes you think I will now?!" She said standing her ground.
She wasn't sure if that gun was loaded, but she didn't care, she wanted his head, and that's what she was going to get. "I will make it painless and fast. Now drop the weapons and let me finish this." She said getting ready to shoot. He's to stubborn....
She got a bit higher in the tree, if she had any chance against a gun shot, then she would have to move fast and dodge it. She was being as stubborn as he was. She was not going to let down a fight, not if it was the man that killed her little brother. She wished that day had never happened, if she was there then she would have stopped it, she would have protected him.

Rellik swayed a bit as she spoke and moved. Where am I again, something called earth I think... Where am I? Wait who said that? Who's she, what am I holding?
The Rellik remembered, for a breif second, but he didn't remember everything, just that he was fighting this girl. He pulled the trigger, there was a loud click but no shot, and Rellik fell backwards. He didn't pass out immediately though, he had time to say one thing:
"Ow"
And then Rellik passed out. After two-hundred-and-fourteen fights, one-hundred-and-ninety-seven kills, eleven years of banditry, two months four says and sixteen hours without food, and three minutes-nine seconds of this fight Rellik Lazurus had been defeated. The only question now was what the victor would do to him.

Anarante was a bit surprised when the gun went off but then it didn't shoot anything out of it. "Well, now you are hop--" She stopped when he fell backwards and didn't move. She got down slowly and was going to make sure that he was dead.
That was to easy... How can he just go down that easily. There has to be a catch to something...
She got to him and checked things out, but then she started to hear people coming. She wasn't sure if it was safe for her to stay and let the humans find out about her kind or if she should flee. She decided to flee, it was the only choice, but she wasn't going to leave him here. She picked him up, whether he was alive or dead, and put him on her shoulder. Yes, he was a bit heavy, but that was nothing to her right now. She got him and bounded off into the forest.
She got to her camp place and placed him next to the fire. It was starting to get late and a bit chilly. She decided to go out and get some sticks to feed the fire and maybe find something to eat. She looked at him, but wasn't sure if he was ever going to wake up and if so, she wasn't really sure what he ate either.

Well, well, well... Look at this tough guy, beaten but nothing but a elven girl, how shameful, out ancestors cry... said the murky face of Rellik's father.
Rellik tried to grab his dad by his shirt and yell at him, but when his fingers touched him there was only smoke there I already killed you, GET OUT OF MY HEAD! Shouted Rellik and he punched the image, it vanished in a large wisp of smoke, and Rellik was thrust back into the real world.
Everything hurt. Was this what awaited him after death, no he was not dead. But how could he be alive, he had been beaten, had watched the girl come down from her place to him in his last moments of life. Had she not finished him off and left him fro dead instead? No. He was somewhere else, the forest was thicker here, and he was by a fire.
Had some pitying soul taken him as he lay slowly eating away? If so who? Or what? None of this changed the fact that everything hurt of course, even his ego was badly damaged, probably more than anything else. Not only had that girl not killed him, but she had beaten him in a fight so one-sidedly. Rellik realized he was laying down, and sat up, facing the fire, he must find food soon...

She came back and stopped dead in her tracks. She was ready to do anything to him if needed. But the first thing she did was go to the fire and put the logs on it. She wanted it to be warm, the animals had told her that it was going to get chilly tonight.
"So you have awoken. What do you eat and I will get it for you..." She said, not really looking at him and her tone was flat, there was nothing to it.
She wasn't sure how this was going to go. She knew that he ate, but what was she willing to do for him to get him what he needed. Nothing. I'm not going to kill a human for him... If he's going to need that, then he's on his own. She thought. She still couldn't understand why she even took him with her. She could have left him there for the humans and they could have killed him the rest of the way. No, she couldn't do that, she wanted to keep the magic world away from them, so instead she had to save him and bring him. She sighed and sat down awaiting his answer.

It took Rellik a few minutes to register the girl’s presence; he was simply staring into the fire with a glazed expression on his face. His eyes betrayed a deep sense of pain and anguish somewhere inside his forsaken soul. The sort of repressed pain that made people pity you even more, though Rellik was not about to accept any pity.
When he did notice the girl he looked up with a puzzled expression, he did not recognize her, should he? Rellik was struggling to figure out what everything and everyone was. She looked familiar. Mother? No, mother didn't look that good, or did she, I don't remember. Where is mother? Oh. I killed her. This girl, she looks like someone whom I fought, but that was a long time ago, or was it?
The Rellik looked up at her, meeting her eyes, and masking his thoughts from her "Meat. I eat meat" he said simply in a dazed voice.
"Um, not to be rude, but who are you?" continued Rellik in a voice that was polite and controlled voice, a voice that he had not used since he was a child.
Rellik stared at her, or perhaps of an image burned into his retinas. Again she was familiar, from a million places...

She noticed he was just watching her, but he soon answered her question. "Then I will hunt for you and come back with meat." She said lightly. She wasn't one for meat, but she could deal with it.
He never took his eyes off of her, then he asked her what her name was or rather who she was. "Do you not remember demon? You tried to kill me." She said, giving him a puzzled look. Has he lost his mine? She asked herself. "My name is Anarante... I'm a elf princess." She said, waiting for him to attack or what not.

"Yeah, I think I did kill a lot of people" said Rellik looking back at the fire, slowly he sorted things.
Rellik was a crippled demon, a parent less child who wandered the darkest of forests and dankest of caves, the bloodiest of battlefields. That's right I'm not like this, I am strong, even though my strength has left me for a while, I am a lone wolf, a killer of all who opposes. Must remember all of this, I am second to none, remember that
"Yes, do that, I still don't remember killing you, but I do apologize" he said in a stronger tone that had lost all weakness, he felt as if he could move again.
"Anyway, you must have brought me here for something, what did you need?" said Rellik, acting as though his body hadn't just been pulled from the brink of death by this benevolent girl.
