Walk in the City of Gardens

Mel followed the light, she started to blink. It was bright, and she heard voices and beeping. Her vision was still blurry from the drugs and her mind was foggy. She could feel the IV in her arm, but pushed it away. She started to remember things, like what happened before she went under. She growled, knowing Satoru was right next to her, "You lef--" She stopped herself, hearing his thoughts. 'He feels bad... And I only made things worse saying I hated him.' She thought. She wanted to get up and give him hug, but she wasn't sure if she could. "It's bright... Is it morning?" She asked lightly, somewhat in her singsong voice. She looked to Dr. Turner and smiled, "Thank you." She whispered. Her eyes were her gray color, but soon the changed to a green. She looked to her hand and saw Satoru's in it, "I'm sorry sweetie..." She cooed, she felt horrible. "I... I was only upset." She said, picking his hand up and kissing the back of it. She was going to see if she could sit up, but something hurt. She decided against it. "How long am I stuck like this?" She asked, knowing Satoru would make sure she wasn't going to move.

She was annoyed, she wanted to move around, she felt better, breathe better, and well lighter. She looked at Satoru with sad eyes, she was remembering the babies, they were gone... Forever. Tears ran down her cheeks, she wished she could change something, at least have one to hold, love, and care for. "It was quick and painless... For them?" She asked, looking away from Satoru. She didn't want to know now, all she could think of is the somewhat helpless things never having a chance for a life. "I want to go home...." She said, trying to get her tears to go away, but they kept coming. She hid her face in the pillow, she wasn't use to this, she never cried before, not like this anyways. She closed her eyes and just waited, she wasn't sure what was going to happen next, but waited. She couldn't get her mind off of the babies, they were gone, she would never hold one in her arms, not even once. She tried to push it away, but they kept coming back to her mind, not wanting to leave. She felt like a murderer now, she started to cry again. "I...I... I killed them..." she said, in between crying.

Satoru and Turner watched as she came to and the smiled. Turner watched the moniter but everything was well. Satoru could feel the familiar warmth return to her hand, but his smile fadded when she looked angry. She started to say how he left her, betrayed her even but he was prepared for the worst. He was surprised when her attitude changed and she started to appologise and even thank Dr. Turner. He smiled, "Miss Melanie you are more than welcome. I shall give you two a bit before I come to check up on you." He said winking at Satoru as he nodded and turned back to Mel. "Yeah, it turned a few hours into the operation." He said smiling at her lightly, "Don't appologize, I know what you were feeling, you were betrayed. You have to understand it was the only thing we could do though." He stopped as she looked over, meeting her eyes. "Yeah, but only for a day or so. If you move now you will reopen everything and the pain will return. It's best to wait this one out. Don't worry I can get you anything you want to pass the time." He leaned over and kissed her cheek.

Then the tears came and Satoru felt bad, his instincts kicked in and he leand over her watching her every move. Overprotective, not allowing anyone to see her this way. he had to act fast, should he tell her now? No, she needed to calm down first. "They felt nothing at all, I assure you I had the quickest form used to dispose of them. You did the right thing. There was no murdering going on. It had to be done.. nothing good would have come out of it aside from the mother and fatherhood part." A smile was dancing on his lips as he knew the truth behind that. The titles stood, just not on the grander scale she wanted. He watched as she turned and closed her eyes the tears still flowing. Staoru cleared his throat to grab her attention as Dr. Turner knocked and rentered, he was alone but grinning. He closed the door behind him and walked over to the bed. Satoru looked up and nodded, "Baby, we have something to tell you, we can make everything right again if your willing to listen to us." Turner awaited her attention. He was the one that Satoru told could tell her, but he wanted her full attention so she would fully understand what he was saying.

Mel finally stopped crying when he started to talk to her. She sniffled a bit, but got herself under control again. She looked at him, then at Turner, who was not next to him. She nodded, "I'm listening." She whispered. She still couldn't get the feeling that nothing at the moment could make her feel better. She slightly sat up and held Satoru's hand. "I hope you're not pulling something to just make me feel better.." She said, eyeing them. She wasn't using her mind reading, she was to upset with herself at the time. She would look at Satoru, then Dr. Turner. She was growing curious now, what were they up to? She asked herself. Then she moved, she slightly winced, but kept her eyes on them. She was growing tired, and wanted something to eat. She sighed and let her thoughts run into a wall and get locked up, she had to pay close attention to them, she wanted to know badly what they were up to. "Lets hear it." She said, opening them and looking at each of them.

Satoru nodded, "You need to promise us to stay calm though, were not pulling anyone's legs this is the truth." He smiled as her grip tightened on his hand knowing she wasn't trusting them. He nodded to Dr. Turner and he smirked, "Everything became clear to me when I found out how many and the genders. A single female with two very agressive brothers. Though she is wounded, she is completly human and will survive to meet her new mother." He said this in a hushed voice not wanting her to get over excited, Satoru picked it up then, "As long as you stay calm, she's very frightened of the world. Her brothers found her to be the less dominate, weakiling if you will. It's in their nature to get rid of her, only one would survive out of the bunch if it went on for any longer, and that's not including you." He cleared his throat and Turner perked up, "She's doing quite well, but does look small and scared, she is bruised almost all over but is healthy. I have I disagreeistant on her way here now with her." He smiled as there was a soft knock on the door but no entrace, she was told to wait until able to come in. Satoru looked up but then back to Mel to see how she would take it all.

Mel was listening and nodded when he told her that she had to stay calm. Then she heard the words, the words saying that one was still alive and was going to be well. She wanted to get rush over to it, but then she heard the rest of the story. Her eyes got wide, but then she had a smile on. "Can.... Can I hold her?" She asked, holding out her arms, but not to fast, she moved them slowly. She didn't want to scare her. She had his eyes, once she looked at them, she was reminded of Satoru. She couldn't help but smile. "She's... Got her daddy's eyes." She cooed, then tears were running down her cheeks, but they were happy tears. "You guys hid this from me!" She said, but not to loudly. "I should've looked for it..." She had her in her arms now. Looking down at her, "Asami... Morning Beauty." She whispered, then she kissed her head very gently. She looked up at Satoru and Dr. Turner. "Thank you... So much." She said, leaning very little to kiss Satoru on the lips. She was all smiles now. "How is she human though? " She was thinking about it now, but soon shook her head. She didn't care how, she had her in her arms now, safe. Asami was sleeping, but soon Mel did the same, she was tired. She was happy, and had dreams that would make anyone happy right now. She had one of the things that was missing in her life now.

Satoru motioned for the nurse to come in, she walked closer almost hesitant to leave the bundle of joy in her mother's outstretched arms. But Turner nodded and she slipped her into her mother's awaiting arms. Satoru smiled as he sat down next to her again on the chair watching as she marveled over the baby. "We had to, I knew if we didn't you would get overly excited and woulden't listen to reason." he spoke softly as he moved his hand to her head, brushing away a few stray strands of hair from her face. Turner nodded, "I knew from the very beginning what the case was and I consaulted Satoru, he knew how much pain you were in. Between haveing to rid of the brothers, and the pain they were causing you and the little one. She's the runt of the litter if you will, she was the weakest link, and they were going to kill her had we waited any longer. It was my idea to keep it hidden from you, Satoru in all his wisdom wanted to relieve you but I decided against it." he looked to the door as he was being beckoned. "I shall leave you two alone, the nurse will relieve you of here once you have fallen asleep, you need your rest." He bowed and left the room.

Satoru watched Mel again, and smiled, "You always were perfect, and now your traits will be passed on to Asami." He met her lips and kissed them softly as they met his. "That part we are unsure of, but Turner tends to think that part came from my side. I was born human, it's in my blood, though a small part of it. It must have carried over to her, but that is the best way we were ale to keep her. Shall she had been a vampire we would have been back at square on." His voice was a mear whisper as he heard the soft heart beat of Asami and smiled at her, he looked up to find Mel sleeping as well. He grinned to himself, he was a father, step one.. step two would be taken care of tomorrow. He slide Asami out of Mel's arms and tucked Mel in. Cradeling her close to his chest with his strong arms he was amazed at how such a small being survived in her mother's stomach. He stood upand rock her lightly, she was a fighter, much like her mother. He looked up as the nurse came in smiling, "She's beautiful.. I own Turner everything." She smiled, "Come I want to show you something." Satoru looked back at Mel, "Don't worry, she'll be exausted, out for the night." He nodded and follwed her out of the room with Asami in his arms.

Mel was happy, and sleeping peacfully. She flet Satoru take her out of her arms, but allowed it. She slept, it felt like hours to her. She couldn't wait to get out of the hospital and hold her all the time, take her out for walks when she knew it was safe. Asami was fast asleep in her daddy's arms, but she soon woke up and peaked at him. She had his eyes, there was no doubt there. She was looking around, but soon fell asleep again. Mel woke up, slowly, looking around to find the room empty. She figured Satoru was doing something, getting something for the new bundle of joy they had in their lives now. She sat up slowly, feeling much better now that she got some sleep. It was still bright out, her eyes were red, but she pushed all of that way. She wanted to get up, go find Asami and Satoru and hold both of them. "I'm stuck... This is not fair." She said to herself. She looked at the machine that was beeping and the IV in her arm, she cringed when she saw it, so she took her eyes off of that. She looked around, the room was nice, not to big, not to small. She felt safe here, even though they did end up using needles. She shivered, she was never going to let it happen again, that was the last time.

Satoru followed the nurse through a few doors, shocked to see Asami looking up at him with his curious eyes. He smiled, "You really are just like your mother." He whispered, "Through here Satoru." The nurse said as he was about to walk past. He blinked and grinned, "Sorry caught up." She giggled, "I know first time parent, I understand." She motioned around the room, they were now standing in an observatory for the nursery. He peered through the glass as a few dozen other babies were sleeping, fussing, crying or whatnot and he smiled. "I've brought you here for a reason, Satoru. I wanted to explain to you the reasoning behind the matter why your baby is a human. I assure you she is not completly human, we did find small traces of vampire dna in her blood stream. She won't ever be a vampire, but her eyes may flash red from time to time, she will not crave blood or have fangs." The nurse paused to smile as a grin danced on Satoru's lips. "Your proud, the human dna came from your side. You were human before you were changed, you may be vampire now but you too still have human dna in your bloodstream. Your lucky, if she was male she would have been vicious like her two brothers." She looked back at Asami and smiled Statoru smiled. "Now If I may ask for your assitance." The nurse grinned when he had finished, "Your good Satoru, I think it will be perfect timing, I would love to aid you." He smiled great, then lets go." She nodded and took a hold of Asami as they made their way back to the room. He knocked on the door and let her in first. "Baby, your awake." He smiled finding himself grinning now with no thoughts of the proposal. He walked over and kissed her deeply before pulling back to look her over.

Mel was about to get up, slowly, when the door opened. The nurse came in and she had Asami. "Hey... How is she?" She asked, then Satoru was behind the nurse and came to her, kissing her deeply. She kissed him back, then he pulled back to look at her. She eyed him, why is he all smiles now? Besides the obvious. "How long was I out?" She asked softly, getting up and going to the nurse, holding her arms out to take her into her arms. She couldn't wait to do everything with her, but she knew she was limited for now. She wasn't happy with it, but she would wait, only to get the best reward for it. She got was holding her now, smiling and giving her tiny little kisses on her for head. "She does look a lot like you baby." She said softly. Asami opened her eyes to the sound of her mothers voice. Her eyes were blue, then red, then blue again. Mel looked at her for a minute, trying to figure this one out. "I thought she was all human?" She said, turning her head to Satoru. She was studying him for a minute, seeing if she could pick through his mind, but found nothing, he had a wall up. He was keeping something from her. She was starting to panic. "I... She's ok, right?" She asked, slightly shaky. She moved to the bed to make sure she was steady. She had to keep herself calm while she was holding her, she didn't want to scare her. She traced her facial futures with her finger, seeing if she could find anything different about her, anything that would make her a vampire, but she didn't find anything. Then Asami took her hand and grabbed her finger, trying to suck on it. Mel smiled, "You're hungry, aren't you little one?" She said, looking up at the nurse. "I'm not use to this... Do I bottle feed her, or..." She trailed off. She knew the best way to feed her was breast feeding, but could she do that, with her being a vampire and all. If she couldn't then she would bottle feed her. Asami kept sucking harder on it, Mel started to giggle. She kissed her on the for head. "She's diffenatly wants something to eat." She cooed.

Satoru cringed as Mel stood up and came to the nurse to pick Asami up. The nurse looked to Satoru as he sighed but nodded for her to give her to Mel. She nodded and handed her to Mel, she was smiling, grinning even as she awaited for everything to come out. Satrou watched as Mel held Asami and her eyes flickered, he grinned as she looked up to him with worried eyes. "Calm yourself baby." He said walking over to the bed and moving her to a sitting position. He sat down too, as the nurse told her that breast feeding was the best in this situation. "I do believe in a place like this breast feeding is best, being so young all of the nutrients will be from there." She smiled as she walked over to help position Asami and watched as she took her first sip of breast milk. "Wonderful, now hold her just like that." She said helping her as her hands held her just so. Satoru watched the two and waited until they were situated to tell her everything. "Well it turns out our little Asami is.. well has traces of vampire dna in her bloodstream. she won't ever be fully vampire, have fangs or cravings for blood. Like me with my human dna traces in my bloodstream. Her eyes will flicker from time to time. But just think sat least we'll know when sh's hungry." He laughed a soft laugh as he leaned in to kiss her cheek, "You'll be a wonderful mother." He whispered building to get ready to pop the questioon but kept his mind a clean slate. The nurse was grinning now watching the two, thinking how perfect they were.

Mel was holding her the right way, but a little nervous. She tired to stay calm. "So she's just like her daddy, more then I thought." She smiled, looking up at Satoru as he kissed her cheek. "You'll be a great father." She whispered. She looked at the nurse now, she was grinning ear to ear. What is with everyone, they were hiding something, she knew, but didn't know what. She couldn't wait to get home, but for some reason, she felt every uncomfortable with the nurse and Satoru both looking at her. She pushed it away, she was to happy to feel like that right now. She smiled at Satoru and then looked at Asami, she had her eyes closed and was happily eating. "She's so little." She whispered. "Now, why are you guys all grins and giggles?" She asked. She was dying to know what they had up their sleeves. Every time she went to look at Satoru, the baby would move and she couldn't help but look at her and smile. She had tiny hands, the littlest fingers Mel had ever seen, and the biggest and bluest eyes, the eyes she loved on Satoru. Asami stopped after a couple of minutes and looked up, then her eyes went to Satoru. 'She knows... I just hope she can except us as what we are.' She thought to herself. She leaned a bit to peck Satoru on the cheek and then kissed Asami, who was still looking around and blowing bubbles for fun. Mel started to giggle, but then winced when she moved the wrong way, it was only the pain, it didn't stay long, but it still took her off guard. She shook her head, "Bubbles..." She giggles again, but she made sure it wasn't to hard. She didn't want to stay here any longer than she had to. "So, I want to know what's with all of the grins and giggles." She said, demanding it now. Then her eyes went red, 'NO! Not now... Please stay in control.' She told herself. She knew as soon as Satoru saw her eyes, she wouldn't have Asami in her arms, they would think she would go for her. She would never do that, she wouldn't be able to bring herself to do that, not after all she had done. She counted in her head, trying to calm herself. It had been a while since she had had something to eat. "Satoru... Maybe you should take her." She said softly, handing her over to him, very gently. She didn't want to push herself anymore than she needed to. She felt somewhat better when Asami was out of her arms, but she could still smell the blood, she even picked up the faint smell of blood down the road, it was a werewolf's blood.

Satoru and the nurse watched her, they smile. The nurse was still grinning and she knew that the gig was up, she would know soon enough and everything would be ten times better. Satoru nodded, "I do hope to be the best for your sake." He whispered, "Nothing, we have nothing up our sleeves, your dreaming." he laughed, knowing it was only a matter of time himself. He grinned with her kiss blushing ever so slightly. He watched as she moved the wrong way and saw the pain flash in her eyes, "Easy." He said reaching out to steady her, then noticing the flash of red in her eyes. The smell hit him next, hits eyes flicked but he gained control faster and looked up. "Mutts." He growled lightly not to scare Ami, but then shook out of it as he found Mel was in more trouble then himself. He took Ami from her and held her close, "Deep breath baby, you can get through this, think of Asumi." He whispered in a light tone looking her over with hopeful eyes. He wanted to ask her, he really did. But it had to be perfect timing before he did. He sighed but rocked Asumi in his arms, feeling the small box in his pocket. He looked to the nurse and she flashed him a smile, Almost. He mouthed to her and she nodded. Any time. She came back with awaiting her turn to hold Asumi when all had passed.

Mel listened to him, calming herself. Her eyes stayed red, but the slowly started to go back to the Gray color. "I'm ok... It took me off guard, and with it being so long since I've had something to eat, it hits me a little harder." She whispered, then holding her arms out for Asami, she wanted to hold her, she had herself under control again. "Ok, not tell me... I've been waiting." She said, getting anxious now. Ami was being good, she was looking around but soon fell asleep again. She looked at her and smiled. "Why are there werewolves here anyways, in the same d*mn place as vampires?" She asked, slightly growling. She didn't like them, they smelled funny and tired to hurt Satoru the last time they met up with one. She still couldn't believe how much she had changed, she would've never hurt any of them in her last life. She closed her eyes, trying to clear that from her head. "Ok, lets hear it. I know you two are hiding something, I want to know." She said, trying to stay serious, but it wasn't going in her favor, she kept finding herself smiling. She looked down at Asami, "Your daddy is hiding something and doesn't want to share it... How is mommy suppose to take that, huh?" She said, slightly giggling at herself. Asami started to hiccup, but looked at her with her big blue eyes. Mel started to laugh, it hurt to laugh, but she couldn't help it, Asami was cute when she started to hiccup. She made a cup of water appear in her free hand and a sthingy with a tad bit of sugar. She dipped it in the water, then put the wet sugar in Asami's mouth. She loved it, "I bet you'll feel better now." Mel whispered to her. Ami didn't have the hiccups anymore. "Don't ask me how I knew that would help her, but I just acted on my own free will." She said, looking at the nurse and then Satoru. She smiled at him, she was happy. She had the man she loved more than anything, well almost, and the daughter that couldn't be any better. She had her family. "Ok, spill it." She said, wanting to get this out of there heads, she was really wanting to know. It was really starting to bug her.

Satoru had handed Ami to Mel, but was hesitant. "I'm not sure exactly on that matter." He looked to the nurse and she nodded, "I can speak of the reasoning, Dr. Turner has them under control right now. You cannot attack them, all species are welcome her. Satoru you of all vampires should know that." Satoru nodded, he knew that matter well, and knew hos protective Turner get's over all of his patients. "In their defense, the female ran into a cart and her entire left side is bruised badly, the male on the other hand was shot by a hunter. They almost lost him on the table, but his..mate so we think saved him." She stopped as Satoru's eyes flashed a brilliant red, "Hunters.. I wish they would all disappear." He growled and turned towards the door knowing they haden't seen the last of their problems either. He looked back and sighed, calming himself. "Turner's thoughts exactly.. he's been targeted more than once, Satoru you know about that." He nodded remembering the one time he fought alongside him to save the hospital from bandits. He was still weak from a recent hunter attack but he still fought. He looked to Mel and Ami, they were getting along well, "We'll feed when we leave. Turner hates ecess blood in the hospital around new patients and such." He said but smiled, the nurse nodded, he spoke as Turner's old friend. He watched, and once Ami's hiccups were gone and Mel's eyes were suspicious once again he smirked, "First things first." He said scooping Ami from her mother and handing her to the nurse who was waiting, she stood there rocking her as she fell asleep.

Satoru turned to Mel, "Now.." He paused seeing as he position was all off, he turned her ever so lightly so that her feet dangeled off the bed. He looked behind him and got down on one knee, fishing out the box as he started. "Melanie, I never kne I could have fallen so deeply in love with someone else. You've been there when I was down, hurt or even just stubborn. Picking me up and dragging me along with you, I want to stay by your side, create this family and keep it safe. I want nothing more than to be with you, so I ask.. Melanie will you marry me? Be my wife, make me the happiest vampire alive..and love me just as I love you?" At that moment he opened the box.

Mel looked at him when he took Asami out of her arms, then he turned her ever so lightly and she was facing him. Then he went to one knee, her heart rate started to get faster, you could tell on the monitor. It was embarrassing, but she didn't care, then he popped the question. "I...I... YES!" She said, getting up and kissing, then hugging him. "..." She was at loss for words, but tears were running down her cheeks. Then the pain hit her, 'Ok, so not the smartest thing I've done, but it was worth it.' She thought to herself. She let go of him and sat back down, it hurt to move now, but knew there wasn't any thing to bad. "You two had this all planned! Didn't you!?" She said putting her hand on her side, it hurt, but ignored it. "I.. I don't know what to say." She said, looking at him with tears in her eyes. He put the ring on and she looked it over. "Green..." She whispered, grinning. She closed her eyes, a smile coming to her face again. "We're a family..." She said, opening them and look at Satoru, then at Asami. She couldn't be any happier, she had him for life, and a child to have and to hold. "I... I'm still at loss for words." She said, taking his hand and kissing him again. "You kept that good, I was picking at your mind for hours, trying to see if you were hiding something, but I only came to a wall. Talent, not to many people or vampires can do that with me." She said, smiling. It seemed she could never get the smile off of her face. She laid down when her side started to throbbed, she now knew it wasn't a good idea to flip out like that, but she couldn't help it, it would look like she didn't want him if she didn't. She didn't want that, she did want him, forever.
