Sarah stopped slowly when the magic pond was in sight. She pointed to it and looked back at Brutus and Anne. Lucien lay unconscious on Sarah's back, his demon tail twitching every now and then. His wings were a lighter color when he was asleep. Sarah walked to the waters edge and pulled Lucien off of her back. She laid him in the water so his head was out of the water and laying on the grass. His chest and bellow were in the water, even his wings. Sarah got down on her joints and reached down to him. A greenish light shone from her hands and a small beam of light shot from her hand and his Lucien's skin. When it hit, his body glowed, or it looked like it. Sarah's light disappeared and she got up on her hooves. She turned to Anne and smiled.
"I'm going to go get some herbs for him. If he wakes up, he might freak out, try to calm him down or just knock him out! We need him to stay in the water." she explained, staring at Lucien.
"Poor soul" she said and turned. She walked into the deeper woods and thought about how she met Lucien, how she met Anne, and Lucien's past which he had told her last tome she healed him after his demon. She remembered how Dr. Tuner got Lucien so mad that his demon came out and went after a hunter that was stalking Lucien then tried to kill the doctor.
Lucien lay in peace as the water moved slightly over his wings. His eyes peeked open and his heart started pounding in his chest. He was scared last time because he didn't know where he was, but he did this time. He remembered the large trees hanging over him. He also remembered the water that covered his body. The only thing that went through his head was how him demon was going after Anne. His mind throbbed and he tried not to panic as he thought of that. He tried to sit up in the shallow water but coughed in pain. A small amount of blood fell from his mouth nd into the water. He grabbed his head and laughed slightly.
"You really got me good this time, didn't cha?" he asked his demon out loud, not expecting an answer. He didn't notice Anne or Brutus. He knew Sarah brought him to the pond and knew she went off to get herbs like last time.
"You're just lucky I'm... friends... with Sarah..." he said out loud, thinking about the word, friends.

Anne did not know if he was talking to her or to the demon within himself. She simply shook her head and crawled over to his side by the waters edge, "So you awake." Anne's cheek was swollen, and blood still trickled down her cheek.
"'Ow anoing' mI' mough' hurst weel bad. I shud of duck." Anne rubbed her cheek but jerked away for it hurt. She simply took out a first aid kit from her satchel and leaned over the water to view her reflection, she didn't say anything to Lucien.
Brutus was in his small snake form and slithered through the water with his flippers.
Anne watched for a moment and went straight to work.
She started to dab the blood away and clean her mouth out.
"Well chap, are you feeling bettah?" she asked in her notable accent. "You lost control of your demon and your emotions." She decided to stop there, not wanting to make him start all over again. Anne continued to clean up and eventually finished with a bandage on her cheek. She looked at Lucien with curious and annoyed eyes.
"I'm glad your arlight."

Lucien didn't move when he saw Anne sit next to him. He blushed a bit but didn't freak out like earlier. He watched as Anne started cleaning up. He heard a small splash and looked down at the water to see a small snake that looked like Brutus swimming in the water. Lucien smiled but turned back to Anne with a straight face when she recapped on what happen. He looked down at some black feathers drifting on the water. He raised his hand and lifted the feather out of the water and it turned to ash as soon as it reached air. Lucien poured the ash into the water and turned to Anne.
"You do? You really are glad?" he asked in a scared voice. He wasn't scared of why his feather turned to ash, he knew the answer to that, he was scared to hear Anne's answer. Was she lying to make him feel better? Why would she care to lie about that though? Lucien grabbed more feathers and raised them to the surface and let them turn to ash. Lucien's wings to that, they shed feathers and if the feathers are messed with, they burn up and turn to ash. It part of the demon curse. If Anne thought Lucien's feathers were pretty and she picked one up, it would burn her. If she picked a feather off of his wing, it would be a normal feather. Lucien doesn't get burned because his body is giving off the feathers so it can handle the burn. He never told anyone and never plans to tell anyone unless they ask. No one has asked yet, afraid that if they talk about the demon then he would come out. He looked up at Anne and reached out to feel the bandage on her cheek.
"What about the griffin? Where is it? ...Are you still on your journey?" he asked as if they had just talked about it a second ago.
Sarah watched, smiled and caught Brutus' attention. She signed that Lucien was doing well and she was going to leave the love birds alone. She turned and quietly trotted off.

Brutus noted this and nodded, he slithered out of the water unseen. Anne stared at Lucien as he touched her cheek, she did not know what to say.
"I'm not lieing, what I say is the truth. I trully am worried bout a clutz like you ya know?" she smiled, not caring that her accent was popping up here and there. Anne watched Lucien play with his feathers, she wondered about the demon within. Maybe she does not have to resolve by forcing him back in everytime he pops out to say his 'hello'. Perhaps my past got control of me. That poor demon, he didn't know any better...
Anne sat in silence for a moment and came back to reality, "Oh, the griffon eggs... some did hatch. In fact, we're almost done! Though, the team is resting right about now. Soon I'll have to leave too, we shouldn't daudle...for the people in Gateway might be getting worse by the second." Anne began to fiddle with her hat for a moment and sat there in awkward silence.
"Tell your demon...that I'm sorry. You see, I had a bad experience with me being pinned down before" she shivers here, "I dare not speak abou' tit. That weapon I drew, it was for self defense. I just hate it when guys do that to girls you know?" Shut up Anne! You're not making sense! Anne squeaked unconciously and covered her mouth.
"Heh heh, there I go dawdling on about something I shouldn't have!"

Lucien turned with white eyes, toward Anne. He pull his hair behind his ears and he coughed.
"You have a demon?" he asked, looked back down at the feathers in the water. His eyes returned normal when he looked down.
"You seem different" he told, talking about how she yelled at herself. He shook his head the pushed up so he was standing in the water. He fell to his knees and covered his mouth and coughed.
"You'd better go find the griffins or whatever" he growled, not trying to sound hurt but. Hurt because of his demons and hurt because he knew Anne was holding soemthing back.
(Where'd Brutus go? Sarah used sign language to tell Brutus that she was going to leave them alone. She wanted Brutus to tell Anne that she was going to leave)

"NO!" Anne said in quick suprise, what made him think that? Well... she did yell at herself.
"Heh, sometimes my mouth goes faster than my brain. So, yeah...sometimes I can't help but to scold myself." Anne watched nervously as he tried to get up and fell down again.
"You shouldn't really move, you're sick you know." Anne sighed sadly, and noticed as Brutus came over. He flicked his tongue at her as if talking in his own language. Anne nodded and told Brutus to tell her she said 'thanks'.
"You're right, but I still have time. Don't worry about me for I'm worried about you."

Lucien continued to stare at the feathers. He didn't notice Brutus came over and his heart felt broken by what she said. It seemed that she thought it was an insult thinking she had a demon. He wondered to himself. 'What? Am I bad? Being demon and all?' he asked himself. He turned to Anne and gulped.
"Do you love me!?" he blurted, wanting the truthful answer. He curled up and higged his knees.
"Sorry, I ment to ask where the griffin eggs were" he covered up. He wanted to know where the eggs were but he also wanted to know if she loved him. He wanted to go along with her and return the griffin eggs but he wanted to know if she liked him first. He started rising his wings but they were so heavy by the water that the splashed back down in the water. He hugged his knee's tightly thinking about how he was a demon angel that didn't know how to fly and he was in love with a human.

Anne noticed Lucien's hurt expression, "Um, I didn't mean it that way..."
"Love you?" Anne said blushing, "I...I...why do you ask?" Anne looked away blushing, "The griffon eggs are in really exotic places," she answered to his sudden question.
"Do you want to come with me?" asked Anne suddenly, she knew where this was heading.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let you. Not because you are demon, but because our job is dangerous and I care of you too deeply to get you involved."
Anne sighed, and felt her cheek.
"Like I said before: 'I have to have to think of your feelings for me for awhile.'"

Lucien grinded his teeth at the thought. 'IT IS BECAUSE OF MY DEMON! SHE'S SCARED IT MIGHT COME OUT!' he screamed in his mind. He grabbed his glove and slipped it off to show a large scar. He laid back in the water and let his head rest on the ground. He lowered his hand into the water and sucked air through his teeth in pain.
"A hunter came after me years ago. I found him not long ago. He got me angered and my demon came out." he said, shaking his head.
"He tried to kill me and I went to Tuner. He was no help. He said he could care less about my feelings" he said in the calmest voice.
"I told you that he could care less about taking care of me" he reminded, slowly raising his hand out of the water.
"It's been years and it still hurts" he said, slipping the glove back on. He turned toward Anne and his eyes became heavy.
"No one cares that I was cursed by a demon when I was a child. No one cares that my mother left me when she saw how ugly of a demon I was. No one cares that mer-people raised me and were my only friends..." he said, sitting up again.
"NO ONE F***ING CARES THAT I HAVE FEELINGS TO!" he screamed, punching the water. The water rose and splashed down on Lucien.
"I guess I diserved that" he said. He grabbed a large rock that was stuck in the sand in the water.
"I could just use this and meet my mom up in heaven for once" he said with a smile on his face.
"She could see that I'm not my demon..." he said with his claws digging into the rock. He turned to Anne with tears in his eyes.
"GO ON! KEEP TALKING! I KNOW THAT YOU THINK THE SAME THING AS MY MOM! YOU HATE ME BECAUSE OF MY DEMON!" he scream, tears pouring form his face. He grabbed his head and cried heavily.
"I hate myself" he managed to cry.
'"Keep going Anne, the more you say, the more he wants to kill himself which means he will see his mom with me!"' his demon laughed, talking right into Anne's mind.
(*crying* I HATE YOU EFFING DEMON!)

Anne watched even more annoyed, "You self-absorbant demon!" Anne glared at Lucien but not at him directly, only to the demon inside. "How cowardly of you! How sick of you to make this person's life miserable!" Anne scowled and reached down for Lucien, she pulled him close.
"Shhh..." Anne shushed Lucien as he cried, "Who in the world told you such things? There are people who care, you just have to find them. One of those people is me!" Anne noticed the scar and the horror that it brought to her, it reminded her of the many scars on her back.
"Drop the rock Lucien," Anne commanded softly as she held him close.
"If you commit suicide then you're nothing but a fool and a coward. Be a man and don't let that demon control you! So drop that rock!" Tears streamed down Anne's face suddenly, she didn't know why...they just did.
"I care Lucien. I care! I care about your feelings!"

Lucien dropped the rock then crawled out of the water. He didn't looked at Anne because he was angered at her. He laid on his back in the grass and his eyes widened when he saw something.
"A-A-Anne!" he hollared forgetting that she was right there.
"Isn't that a griffin!?" he asked with his voice cracking.
Nania circled above the pond that her family was attacked because they drank out of it. She slowly lowered to the ground because she had the sent of griffin. She landed next to Lucien with a thud.
Lucien rolled over on his stomach and he crawled over to Anne quickly.
"Hi... griffin..." he said with fear in his voice.
"Hello angel. Where is the griffin?" she asked in a calm voice. She looked at Anne and her lion tail swing behind her. Her bird claws digging into the grass.
"Human, demon, angel which one will tell me?" she asked a little more angry than before.
"Where is the egg?"

Anne looked serious for a moment, she pushed away from Lucien and gazed at the visitor, "That's what I would like to know. Who are you and why are you after something so rare?" She stood up quickly and looked on in curiosity. Anne's cheek was still swollen but not greatly like it was before.
d**n. I should have left while I still had the chance. We shouldn't have rested! We need to go immediately! If I try to contact any of my comrades now, she will know of the existance of another griffon. Cherie needs to hatch it in order to revive the species...she's the only one who can can do it.
Anne stood stiffly, she tried to act politely toward the new comer. Not at all scared of the iron creature in front of her. Brutus was nearby gazing from afar at the guests.

Nania rose her wings and roared with her lion lungs. She walked toward Anne and rose on her back feet. Her bird claws raising up.
"I WANT MY BREED TO COME BACK!" then she landed with a thud.
"I'm a griffin so I would like it if you gave me the egg! How would a human know how to take care of a griffin!" she screeched.
Lucien was next to Anne and was ready to let his demon out if Anne was in danger.
Nania turned to face Lucien and nodded.
"This is no your place to be boy" she said then she turned back to Anne.
"And as for the dragon snake who's hiding, you can tell him to lower his guard. I will not hurt you unless you insist to fight back" she cawed.
(Low muse)

"Calm yourself." Anne said not scared at all, "I defeated many alike you, I'm in no possession of any egg whatsoever. My friend who is trying to save your kind contains all the eggs right now. We're doing this for a better cause. Besides, she is not human at all. She is a creature that came from your world and your time, she's the only one that can revive your people:She's a nymph. If we gave the egg to you, then humans like us would simply shoot you down and rip off your wings. Now I would hate that, but that will only happen." Anne stared sternly into the griffon's eyes, "My snake is only here to protect, he will not kill or strike at all unless I command. Heed my word, I am with good people. If you don't believe me than look at this," Anne pulled out a special rock, "This is from your home, the nesting ground from long ago. Cherie gave it to me as evidence that I am helping her." Anne placed it back the stone back into her satchel and closed the opening securely.
"There--" suddenly, a sound of something vibrating came from Anne's pocket, she reached down and grabbed out a cell phone. It flipped open and a projetory screen appeared.
"Big sister!" called a young voice.
"Cherie..."

Lucien slowly walked around the griffin and toward Brutus. A look of plead in his eyes stared down at Brutus.
"Listen, I can feel the tension rising from the griffin. You'd better warn Anne to get out of there" he whispered, hoping Brutus trusted him. His face was covered in sweat as she stared at the griffin rising her front claws.
Nania rose up on her back feet and swept the phone of of Anne's hand. The phone went flying and landed with a crash next to the water. She landed back down on four feet, with a thud.
"Give me my egg!" she screeched, wanting Anne to bring her to the person who had the egg.
"I can smell the egg! I've lived for years and haven't been seen by a human until now! GIVE ME THE EGG!" she screeched again, this time flying up.
"BRING ME TO THE EGG!"
